And the band plays on, 158 years strong

DeKALB – David Lehman knew whom to thank for the good weather at the first concert of the DeKalb Municipal Band’s 2012 season.

“Dee has tighter control now on the weather,” said Lehman, oboe player and concert announcer. “The weather could not have been more perfect.”

Memories of Dee Palmer permeated every aspect of the June 12 performance. The concert was a musical tribute to Palmer, who died last November at the age of 97, after 63 years of directing the band.
