Kirkland scouts earn Eagle rank

KIRKLAND — Brendan Wascher and Joseph Theobald, both of Kirkland Boy Scout Troop 26, have earned the rank of Eagle Scout. The ceremony was conducted May 12 at the Herbert church in Herbert.

To earn the rank of Eagle, which only about 2 percent of scouts achieve, each scout must earn at least 21 badges and complete a community service project, which must be approved. These projects require many hours of extensive planning, coordinating and leadership.

Brendan and Joseph have been in Scouts together since Tiger Pack 426 in first grade. They also have earned the Order of the Arrow. They have been on many camping trips together and agree the Boundary Water trips were some of the best. Their first trip there was a 50-miler, which they say was fun, but exhausting.
