Green thumbs help community gardeners
SYCAMORE – The DeKalb County Master Gardeners are expanding the scope of their activities in the county.
According to its website, the program’s mission is to train volunteers to provide current, research-based horticulture information to home gardeners. But in addition to answering questions about such things as pest control and composting, the Master Gardeners have answered the call from nonprofit groups seeking to establish and maintain their gardens.
“We do a lot of educational programs,” said Bethany Macarus, extension program coordinator for the Master Gardener program in DeKalb County. “DeKalb County Community Gardens was just developed, and they asked us to provide the educational programs.”
