Students named citizens of the year

GENOA - The Genoa Lions Club honored the 12 recipients of the Citizen of the Year award at a dinner April 18.

Genoa-Kingston School District Superintendent Joe Burgess gave a short speech, and the principal of each school in the district introduced the students from their school and read letters of recommendation prepared by the students' teachers. Each sstudent received a medal.

Winners were: Bailey Botterman, first grade, Davenport Elementary; Julia Botello, second grade and Madison Cartee, third grade, Kingston Elementary; Evan Skarzynski, fourth grade and Sydni Stoffregen, fifth grade, Genoa Elementary; Halle Brynteson, sixth grade, Cody Bradshaw, seventh grade and Tommy Hansen, eighth grade, Genoa-Kingston Middle School; Rachel Gathman, ninth grade, Travis Hughes, 10th grade, Samantha Fisher, 11th grade and Chrissy Canterbury, 12th grade, Genoa-Kingston High School.
