Classical guitar showcased

DeKALB – The Avanti Guitar Trio and Chicago Community Classical Guitar Ensemble will give a free concert with organist James Nerstheimer at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1915 N. First St. in DeKalb, at 2 p.m.. Sunday, May 6.

The concert is supported with a grant from the Mary E. Stevens Trust Concert and Lecture Fund.

The Avanti Guitar Trio – Thomas Clippert, Julie Goldberg and Jeffrey Gabriel Silva – is exploring new and historic music, reaching out and connecting with listeners and creating beautiful music together. Rooted in the classical guitar tradition, the trio performs an eclectic variety of music including repertoire from the Renaissance through Romantic eras, music from Spain and Latin America, arrangements of folk and pop tunes and contemporary compositions that make use of improvisation, effects pedals and electronics.
