Hospital construction ahead of schedule

DeKALB – Construction on expansions of the emergency and obstetrics departments at Kishwaukee Community Hospital is running ahead of schedule.

In response to high volumes, the hospital began expanding the two departments on Dec. 1. The project was originally slated to be completed this fall, but is on track to be finished this summer. Mild weather and an efficient construction crew have been credited with the rapid progress.

The expansion project includes six new treatment bays in the emergency department, bringing the total number from 15 to 21, plus an additional nurses’ station and a patient bathroom.
