Online only: Softball game helps feed the hungry

DeKALB – There will be more at stake than bragging rights or a place in the standings when Sycamore meets DeKalb in a high school girls softball game at 7 p.m. Friday. The game, which will be held at Mary M. Bell Field on the Northern Illinois University campus, is also a fundraiser.

Each team is collecting food donations and money for local food pantries. DeKalb is playing for Feed'em Soup and Sycamore for the Sycamore Food Pantry.

Admission to the game is free with the donation of a nonperishable food item. For every item donated, fans will get a raffle ticket. Raffle tickets can also be purchased for $1 each or "an arm's length of tickets" for $5.
