On the record ... with Tina Heffernan
Tina Heffernan has lived with the specter of breast cancer for most of her life.
The DeKalb woman was 9 when her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 29. Her mother died two years later at 32. Heffernan also watched her grandmother and three of her mother’s sisters battle the disease.
“It’s always been the back of my mind,” Heffernan said. “I always thought when, not if.”
