Looking Back: April 18, 2012

April 23, 1887
Last week the mercury rose to 90 degrees in the shade, the highest temperature in April since 1869. April 14, 1881, the snow was 2 to 4 feet deep.

A team ran away as the wagon was being loaded at the slaughterhouse Monday. They ran north several miles. The tongue broke and pounded the team til the whole outfit was bespattered with blood. One horse and perhaps both are ruined.
