Library begins 'hot reads' program

DeKALB – The DeKalb Public Library is implementing a new service for the community: The Hot Reads Rental Program.

The library is always looking for ways to improve its services and meet the needs of the community. This new program, made possible by a $500 grant from The Friends of the DeKalb Public Library, will satisfy the needs of DeKalb patrons who want to read bestsellers right away.

Many patrons are eager to read bestsellers, but they are usually on hold or checked out to other patrons. This is a book collection of current bestsellers and is available to anyone with a DeKalb Public Library card only. A fee of $1 is charged per item checked out to maintain this program, as it is separate from the library’s permanent collection. Patrons can check out a maximum of three Hot Reads at one time, and, because of the potential popularity and premise of the program, the books are due in three weeks with no renewals.
