SideLines: Finding inspiration in unexpected places

I almost missed it.

I was having a bad week. On top of everything else, without thinking I volunteered to cover a wheelchair basketball game at Northern Illinois University.

It didn’t dawn on me until later that the game was on Maundy Thursday, the night Christians believe Jesus partook of the Last Supper with his apostles and was betrayed. To me, Maundy Thursday church services are as moving as Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve. It’s something I look forward to every year, and I always feel guilty when I miss it.
