Letter to the Editor: Thanks for meeting at the Fair

Dear Community Members,

I wanted to take a brief opportunity to say thanks to all for making Pay-It-Forward House’s “Meet Me at the Fair” event a success! There are so many to thank, so if I forget anyone, please forgive me. We recently had our “Fair” on July 16. This is our sixth year of running our event in which we invite the public to come out and enjoy an old-fashioned day of family activities, food and fun, and even some education on what services we provide to families of long-term care patients in the area hospitals.

A great deal of work and time go into putting the event together. First, thank you to the public who have supported this event, whether by attending, donating supplies/gifts or bringing their special talents to the event to help ensure the event ran successfully. The House primarily operates through the largesse of donations and volunteers. Everyone from the folks who set up in the morning to the raffle ticket sellers to the games people to the folks who provided the entertainment did an outstanding job! And we couldn’t have done it without the large group of area businesses that provided supplies and support for the event as well. We at the House are fortunate that our community has such a giving heart.

Second, a heartfelt thank you to all the sponsors who provided financial help for the event. We are so lucky that all of our sponsors recognize that good work that we do and are willing to help us which in return, helps the community. I would like to recognize our two “Astor” sponsors for their assistance, the Ideal Foundation and Kishwaukee Health System. Thank you to all of our sponsors for their precious assistance.

Third and finally, thank you to the committee for all your hard work and diligence in making the event a success. This group of people brought their special skills to the event, built on past years’ success and made this one of the best events by providing a positive experience to the community and ensuring the continued financial success of Pay-It-Forward House so that future families in need of lodging because of a loved one’s illness will find a warm and welcoming home-away-from-home

Once again, thank you all!
