Friends of Library Book Sale Dates: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13; 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14 Place: DeKalb Public Library Cost: On Friday and Saturday, hardcovers $1, trade paperbacks 50 cents and regular paperbacks 25 cents. On Sunday, all the items you can fit in a plastic shopping bag for $1. If you can’t make it that weekend, come the following Monday and Tuesday, where a bag full will still be only $1.

Patriot Day Observance Time: 8:45 a.m. Date: Thursday, Sept. 11 Place: DeKalb Fire Station #1, 700 Pine St. The DeKalb Fire Department will conduct a memorial ceremony to honor the innocent victims who lost their lives as a result of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The 09/11 commemorative flag will be flown at each station at half mast. The flag was designed to commemorate the events of Sept. 11, and was presented to FDNY Engine 54, Ladder 4, and Battalion 9.
