The Stat Book : Hohl heads to Happy Valley
Kimi Hohl, setter for the NJCAA national champion Kishwaukee College women's volleyball team, has committed to play with the Penn State Nittany Lions next year. Penn State is currently the NCAA Division I women's volleyball national champion. Hohl, said, “A Penn State game was the first volleyball game I ever watched on TV. I was in sixth grade and had just started really playing. Ever since then, I have dreamed about playing volleyball for Penn State. This is everything I wanted.”
Hohl, a native of Cary, has played at Kishwaukee College under coach Ron Sweet for two years. She graduates this May and will transfer to Penn State for the fall 2008 semester and season. Hohl was named the MVP of the NJCAA national tournament in November 2007 when the Kougars clinched their second consecutive national championship. Kishwaukee College volleyball coach Ron Sweet said, “Kimi is a tough kid, and she performs under pressure very well.”
Sign up for stroke clinic - DeKalb County Swim Team (DCST) is open to boys & girls ages 6 to 18 from DeKalb County who can swim 25 yards. DCST is offering a Stroke Clinic beginning on Tuesday, April 15. The clinic will run for three weeks on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. Rookie swimmers ages 12 and younger and all returning DCST swimmers ages 8 years and younger will practice from 6 - 7 p.m. Rookie swimmers ages 13 and older and returning SCST swimmers ages 9 years and older will practice from 7 - 8 p.m. The Stroke Clinic is an excellent way for swimmers to improve their stroke mechanics and to get a head start on the upcoming summer season. Swimmers can sign up at the front desk of the YMCA at any time. The cost of the Stroke Clinic is $25 for YMCA members and $40 for non-members.
Lions donate new threads - The Genoa Lions have donated $300 to the Genoa-Kingston High School girls track team for new warm-ups this year. The girls team has more members than ever and needed a little help. The money donated to the track team was earned by the Lions during the football season where several members acted as ticket-takers during the five scheduled home games and the state playoff game ending their state title bid. Lion President Gene Bradford presented a check to Coach Barry Schmidt and two senior track members.
