Officials from the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department and the DeKalb County State's Attorneys office have announced an arrest related to a multi-state theft case. Police said they executed a search warrant at two mini-storage units near DeKalb County on Jan. 19.
Police said, as a result of the investigation, Mark A. Wright, 48, Leland, has been charged with aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle, eight counts of unlawful possession of manufactures identification plates, three counts of identity theft, five counts of unlawful possession of certificate of title, unlawful possession of a license plate, unlawful possession of manufactures statement of origin, unlawful possession of temporary registration permit and parole violation.
Police said property that has been recovered as a result of the investigation includes two 2008 Dodge pick-up trucks, various trailers, a John Deere lawn mower, a Kubota tractor and several hand tools and power tools. According to police, some of the stolen items were taken from Illinois, Iowa and Missouri.
Police said a subsequent search warrant was executed at Wright's home on Feb. 1. As a result of the investigation, Sandra L. Seabright, 66, (Wright's mother) was charged with aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle and forgery.
Police said Wright has been known to use several fictitious names including, Mark Seabright, Rick Webb, Mike Johnson, Kevin Lee, Bob Jones, Mark Rogers, Dave Kramer and S&S Motor Sports, Inc.
Police said anyone who has conducted business or sales transactions with anyone using these names is asked to call (815) 899-4527 or (815) 895-7231.
Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
