Tickets are on sale for Children’s Community Theatre's Jan. 24-26 production of the Tony award-winning musical “1776”.
“1776” follows John Adams, portrayed by Isaac Ortega of Sandwich, Benjamin Franklin, portrayed by Mike Loss of Sandwich, and Thomas Jefferson, portrayed by Hunter Ahrens of Oswego, as they attempt to convince the members of the Second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. They are supported in their efforts by their wives, Abigail Adams portrayed by Rayna Vogen of Sandwich and Martha Jefferson portrayed by Cara Davis of Somonauk.
The other members of the Second Continental Congress are performed by Cooper Akin, Grace Anderson, Sophia Bode, Cadee Goldstein, Jackson Heilemeier, Daniel Maller, Elena Ortega, Paige Penman, Payton Penman, Sofia Serio, Carter Shure and Isabella Vancil from Sandwich; Hailey Barngrover, Hannah Barngrover, Matthew Brockway, Maggie McGuire and Harper Shaw from Somonauk; Kat Bowman and Luke Curtis from Sycamore; Molly Feitlich and Emma McClure from Waterman; Elijah Botts from Cortland; Melody Foster from DeKalb; Grace Turk from Elburn; Sierra Beatty from Sheridan; and Brendan Massey from Yorkville.
“1776” is a funny, insightful and compelling drama with a score by Sherman Edwards and book by Peter Stone, based on a concept by Sherman Edwards. “1776,” which was originally produced on the Broadway stage by Stuart Ostrow and directed by Peter Hunt, won multiple Tony awards, including Best Musical.
Performances of "1776" will be at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, at the Sandwich Opera House. Tickets can be purchased online at www.cctsouth.ticketleap.com/1776 or at the door, subject to availability.
