DeKALB – Just Make It Happen Inc. invites DeKalb County service clubs, performance arts advocates and citizens to support the annual 'Tis the Season live music project that runs through Nov. 24.
The project brings musical programs performed by the Kishwaukee Brass Quintet to six DeKalb County preschools in DeKalb, Sycamore, Genoa and Shabbona.
JMIH hopes to expand the program to nine preschools this year. Citizens, businesses and service clubs are invited to become a one-third or full financial partner with the JMIH’s Wurlitzer Foundation Music Education grant.
“Because many preschools have zero funds to bring professional musicians to their school, the Wurlitzer grant assists JMIH in reaching underserved children in as many school as possible,” JMIH President John Smith said in a news release. “Legacy partner funding ensures that more children benefit.”
In addition, the 'Tis the Season campaign offers community outreach programs for seniors, the homeless, those in jail, cancer center patients and people in business.
JMIH invites financial partners to underwrite various concerts.
Past 'Tis the Season events have included performances at the DeKalb Farm Bureau, DeKalb County Jail, Hope Haven and private parties.
